The Pontoon and Welcome Centre project delivered by Tiwi Enterprises in conjuction with Carey MC have used local Tiwi Islands workers and engaged with other local service providers such as the Bathurst Island Housing Association to help provide training and new workplace skills for local people.In addition, 85% of the project acquisitions were purchased in the Northern Territory.The Welcome Centre has a covered seating area, kiosk and toilet facilities.The complex was officially opened the 30th January 2020.
